Updated: Oct 19, 2021

Are you looking to design a new logo for your website? Or maybe you are starting a new business and need some help. Let’s take a look at some of the different considerations for designing your logo. Next Wave Services is also a full-service web design company in Charlotte, NC that specializes in logo design.

Logo Colors

The first thing you need to think about when designing your logo is the color scheme that you want to use. Different color combinations can convey different connotations that you want associated with your brand. Here are a few two-color combinations and the meaning that they convey:

  • Yellow and blue convey both a playful or an authoritative meaning.

  • Navy and tel can be associated with being soothing or striking.

  • Black and orange can be lively or powerful.

  • Maroon and peach can be elegant and tranquil.

  • Deep purple and blue can be both serene and dependable.

  • Navy and orange convey a sense of credibility.

Your Next Wave Services designer can help you pick a plethora of colors that help convey the meaning of your brand.

Logo Fonts

Your choice of fonts are going to largely depend upon what you have chosen for your brand. That being said, you want to use a font that is sharp on the web. For example, Helvetica and Proxima Nova are very good fonts to use for your logo if it is going to be used on your website. Another rule of thumb to consider is keeping the number of fonts used in your logo small. Your Next Wave Services designer can point you in the direction of the right fonts you should use.

Logo Size

If you are designing your logo on your own, you will likely need to create a few different versions of your logo, in terms of size. Here is what you should use for your logo size for where your logo will be deployed:

  • Your website logo should be 3000 x 3000 for most Wix templates.

  • Your logo should be 180 x 180 if you are using it on Facebook.

  • Your logo should be 320 x 320 for Instagram.

  • Your logo should be 400 x 400 for Twitter.

The best way to get your logo to look sharp will be to make a high-resolution design in your design program, such as Adobe Photoshop. Then, you can export it as a .png file. Your Next Wave Services team member will be able to do this for you if they are doing a logo design as part of your website design package.
